Swordfight

The Swordfight
Urban experiment: I want to find out how people react when they are confronted with a 'playful situation'. In this experiment one of my agents hands over a plastic sword to people passing by, however, no-one accepts it! I'm not exactely certain about the exact cause of this, but it's plain to see that most people don't want, or don't know how, to indulge in a social interaction surpassing 'do you have the time?'.
I need to find a way to get to these people, pull them out of their bubble which seperates them from the world around them. Once they leave their 'safety bubble' they can indulge themselves in the social interactions around them, especially, the 'having fun' interaction I like to call: Playfulness.

People don't want their safety bubble being burst! The signification of 'sword' and 'fight' touch the nerve of fear in society, of being cut, of being challenged. Hand someone a bubble or a ball and they will, much more likely, become playful. The social rules of fighting with strangers are totally different to those of playing with a ball.
